MNEME

MNEME addresses the need for more connected, interoperable and reusable digital cultural heritage resources across Europe. Cultural heritage institutions often work with rich but fragmented collections, including texts, images, 3D models and conservation records. MNEME responds to this challenge by validating the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage through five pilots in Greece, Spain, Slovenia, Italy and France.

The project ingests curated cultural heritage assets and harmonises them using CIDOC-CRM and IIIF, creating a federated knowledge graph that enables cross-collection discovery, comparative analysis and shared storytelling across institutions. It integrates and extends key ECCCH tools, including CIT for ingestion, VTL for transcription and OCRA for conservation annotation, while adding AI-assisted enrichment and condition analysis, robotic 3D capture and AR/VR experiences that connect on-site galleries with remote audiences.

Through its pilots, MNEME will provide evidence on metadata completeness, link accuracy, load times, uptime, visitor engagement and training outcomes. The results will be documented as reusable protocols and recommendations for the ECCCH community, helping turn the Cloud from infrastructure into an adoptable collaborative memory platform for Europe’s cultural heritage sector.
