The broad research activity at the New Technologies Department (NTD) at AKMON spans the full spectrum of defence technology, ranging from developing software and advanced autonomous UxV architectures to hardware integration, hostile platform detection and neutralisation, and the development of multi-domain autonomous platforms. Energy, as a critical component of a defence system’s autonomy, is also a focus of the NTD, which exploits and complements existing traditional and disruptive solutions to maximise the efficacy of platforms across all operational domains.

The research team at NTD focuses on identifying capability gaps, evaluating emerging and disruptive technologies, and remapping operational needs into feasible technical solutions that strengthen AKMON’s defence and security solutions.
